Snow Volleyball is a sport that is played by 3 players against 3 players with 1 substitution player possible during the match or replacement due to injury.
The court Snow Volleyball is played on is 8m x 8m per side with a 3m free zone (total area: 22m x 14m), the surface that is played on is covered surface. All forms are snow are allowed to be played on but preference is to have a more soft surface and try to avoid having a icy underground.
A match is played in a best of 3 format (you have to win 2 sets to win the match). Each set is played to 15 points and to win you need to have a 2 point advantage. All set will be played to 15 (win by 2 points), even the tie breaker set.
Every 5 points players switch sides to have fair conditions for both teams. The switch is immediate and quick with no delay.
A team can substitute any player, a total of 2 player exchanges are allowed for each set. The player who is substituted may come back into the match and can take up any position.
Every team has 1 timeout per set which is 30 seconds long.
The service order is announced by the team caption before the beginning of the set and must be kept during the set. A substitute player is earning the service order spot of the player they replace.
